This waterfront Island House located in the natural landscape on an island in the Stockholm archipelago in Sweden was designed by WRB Architects. Arkitektstudio Widjedal Racki Bergerhoff was founded by Hakan Widjedal, Natasha Racki and Philip Berghoff in 2004, the same year when this amazing project was finished.

This wonderful vacation Island house in rustic cottage style and with an open plan glass-enclosed interiors was designed for a young family with children and built on a 150 square feet area with lush vegetation including a 500 year old oak tree, pine and rocky outcrops and surrounded by calm ocean waters. Main house is open onto the ocean and half hidden behind the knotty pine trees with the layout which takes full advantage of the natural beauty of the scenic view without becoming a dominating feature on the coastline.

The house invites nature in through the extensive use of natural wood to finish floors, walls and ceilings which gives natural brown color and the connection between inside and outside, separated only by a sliding glass wall. A sheltered wood deck allows for all-weather outdoor entertaining, leisure and relaxation. The bedrooms, storage and bathroom are facing a secluded courtyard framed by rock formations and the old oak trees. Separated sauna beside the dock wraps up the amenities and necessities of this modern waterfront cottage home.
